What Is Crystal Healing?

Crystal Healing

Natural healing with crystals, or crystal healing, is the use of crystals to heal and/or enhance health and well-being. Although not scientifically recognized, crystal healing was used throughout history by the great civilizations and has now made a resurgence in modern times.

Ancient Egyptians, Mayans, and Native Americans, among others, have used crystals for healing purposes. Evidence of this was found in tombs, artifacts, and cultural jewellery and amulets. Modern medicine has rightfully replaced the ancient healing uses of crystals and gemstones in treating and curing illness, disease, and injuries. However, the mystery and mysticism remains. And in areas where modern medicine doesn’t always have the answers, such as chronic pain and mental illness, many are willing to explore the possible benefits of crystal healing.

As alternative, or holistic, medicine grows in popularity today there are many crystal healers practicing crystal healing. Crystals may be placed on the body corresponding to the Chakras. Or, crystals may be placed around the body in a healing energy grid. It is believed that the energy and vibration of the crystals interacts with a person’s energy field to bring emotional, physical, spiritual, and mental balance to the whole body.

Crystal healers can be found around the world. However, there is no consistent level of regulation. It is important to choose a healer carefully. Do some research, get recommendations, and visit trained healers. Most importantly, crystal healing should never take the place of medical treatment for illness or injury. Always seek the advice of a medical doctor.

How Do Crystals Heal?

Crystals possess a vibrational energy. Crystals were formed during the creation of earth. Many were subjected to enormous pressure. Some grew underground. Others were created in layers. Each type of crystal has a unique shape, size, density, colour, and molecular structure. The crystalline structure absorbs, focuses, and gives off a vibrational frequency that can be measured.

The vibrational energy of crystals is used today in many modern technologies. The most well known example is the quartz watch. Quartz is a crystal that is piezoelectric, meaning that when pressure is applied it generates an electric current. Plus, quartz vibrates at a constant and consistent rate allowing it to turn motion into electricity or electricity into motion. Quartz is also used in microphones, LCD televisions, ultrasound equipment, and microchips.

The human body also produces energy. Our vibrational energy changes all the time whereas a crystal’s energy is constant. Some believe that a crystal placed on or close to the body can change the body’s frequency. Depending on the crystal used, it may balance the body’s energy, or calm or energize it.
